- Great design (Bowden Precinct is one example). Our suburbs are suffering ‘death by a 1000 cuts’ – denser development must consider retaining current vegetation cover to mitigate the ‘heat island effect’ in urban environments like Hindmarsh; realistic parking provision needs to be factored into all forms of development; 21st-century design and materials required to minimise greenhouse unfriendly development and prepare for our future.
“I have witnessed this personally when I was informed that I was not allowed to comment on major development four houses and 50m from my front door, while my neighbours directly across the street could. Such are the arcane rules of the planning scheme. It’s not common sense and it’s not fair.”
- Cycling and commuter safety – the City of Charles Sturt has done some great work to develop a network of cycling paths through the city. But more work can be done. If elected I will advocate for:
- Better separation of cars and bicycles esp. around the crash hotspot on Port Road/Adam Street/ Grange Road.
- More green-painted lanes on the major distributor roads such as Torrens, Port and Grange Roads.
More secure, lock up, bicycle-parking (specific locations to be identified through consultation) - Making representations to get the crossing at North Adelaide Railway Station operational and safe.
